How to Store and Prepare Fish

  • Fish is best consumed the same day it is purchased. If this is not possible, it has an approximate shelf life of three days.
  • Fish should be placed in the coldest part of the fridge, and be protected by cling wrap or a plastic bag.
  • Fish should always be cooked on medium to low heat.
  • Cooking time is usually 3-4 minutes each side and can be checked by placing a skewer through the centre of the fish fillet. If the flesh catches on the skewer, it requires more time. The fish is cooked when the skewer goes through it easily and the flesh is opaque in the centre.
